CAUGHT BETWEEN TWO TURBINES?
STATE LINE NEWS:
The Jo Daviess County Board permitted a wind farm developer to place turbines on either side of a non-participating landowner's home in a way that meant the safety setbacks overlapped the home owner's residence.
The homeowner states, "I can no longer safely occupy my own property within the setbacks."
The only recourse for homeowners is to seek legal action at their own expense.
The safety setbacks were established to provide protection in the event of blade and ice throws, tower collapse, noise etc.Watch a video which explains the situation HERE
In general, wind farm developers have learned not to tell communities where turbines will be sited until after the deal is done because affected landowners may protest.
The developers in our community still have not given us a map of where they plan to site 67 turbines. They tell us a map will be ready in late winter--- but they admit it STILL WILL NOT SHOW THE ACTUAL SITES OF THE TURBINES! The map will only show which areas are "suitable" for turbines. We already have made such a map. You can see it by clicking here
